North Country | Finding Hidden Treasure
45 junior campers, 9 teen LITs and 12 adult leaders
spent time at North Country Junior Camp in search of Treasure. And we found
much treasure that will last us a life time. 11 junior campers made first
time decisions to be followers of Christ. They were given New Testaments to
celebrate the occasion. Many other treasures were discovered.
Each day began with memorizing a Bible verse to help
us learn about the treasure that God gives in His Word. Everyone had a
chance to be a part of a small group that went on a Nature Hike to search
for treasure in God's creation. We also learned that we can try new
things such as using a puppet to be a part of a puppet show or doing some
acting in clown skits. All of these are ways to help us learn our Bible
stories, learn how to be part of a team and to just have some good fun
together.
We had our traditional games of Capture the Flag and
Mission Impossible and this year we had a treasure hunt. The treasure
was " wordless beads" which help us remember the way to salvation.
The bus ride to Hills Creek for swimming is always a
treasured time of song and laughter. And the time around the campfire is
filled with special moments which are a mixture of loud joyful songs and
quieter contemplation as we listened to testimonies and sharing from both
campers and teens. Such a treasure it is to hear of how God has worked in
each others lives!
Many hugs were given as the time to leave for home
came round. Treasured memories and friendships which continue to grow each
year. Thanks to everyone who helps to support this great ministry
opportunity!
